How TellThem.nz handles information.
What we collect when you send a notification
- Your IP address and approximate location
- Timestamp of the send
- A one-way hash of the recipient's mobile or email (not the actual number or address)
- Which STI was selected
- Whether the message was sent successfully
- Browser user-agent string
What we do not collect
- Your name, phone number, or email
- The recipient's name after the message is sent
- Any custom message content (messages use fixed templates only)
- Any link between you and the recipient
Why we collect this
To prevent abuse of the service, comply with law enforcement requests where misuse is reported, and operate rate limits fairly.
Retention
Audit log data is retained for up to 12 months, then deleted. Blocklist entries remain until you request removal.
Blocklist
If you block your number or email on our block page, we store a hash of your contact details so we can refuse future sends to you.
Police and legal requests
If misuse of this service is reported to police, we will cooperate with investigations by providing stored IP and timestamp data as required by law.
